This is a darling little piece and even though it is not perfect it is such a rare find that I think the girl who grabs it will treasure it. It is a wonderful example of printed cotton form the forties and would have been a little day dress topper for around the house. You can wear it now as a tunic or light jacket or even a mini. Pinwheels of color swirl across its surface and the colors are still bright and vibrant. It buttons down the front with what looks like very early plastic buttons. I love the charming little pockets on each hip. This is a piece that you can pair with virtually anything and it will always get compliments and comments as it is so unusual. Present as excellent condition but please go ever notes below.
Unlined and buttons to close. There is perhaps the smallest of softening to the color - this would have been worn and hand-washed in its day. But for a garment from the forties and the fabric being cotton I would say the color retention is excellent still. It does have foxing and slight discolorations here and there- these are marks from improper storage - they are minor and the patter so busy that you really see them only when it is laid out flat and in hood light. But they are there - the most noticeable is in photo 5 - the bodice close up. Priced accordingly
